Essential Committee Functions:
The Historian is responsible to collect the memorabilia from club
members.
To go on line several times a year to ask if anyone has anything of
interest to contribute.
To ask authors of new books on ACD's to donate a copy.
To collect information from each National Specialty, including
Pictures of winners, a Catalog and a T-Shirt.
We have a history going back to 1968, when a small group of people decided to form a Club to try to get our breed recognized by the American Kennel Club. We were recognized in 1980. I will be updating the Archives as necessary.
January 2007 Committee Report:
I enjoyed the 2006 Specialty in Rochester, MN, this year. It is always nice to see old friends and make new ones. I am sorry I was unable to bring any of the archives with me this year. I hope to be able to bring some of the archives to future Specialties.
I am in the process of collecting materials from this Specialty to add to the National Specialties archive’s books. The minimum I like to have is a specialty t-shirt, a catalog, photos of BISS, BOS, AOM winners, Winner’s Dog , Winner’s Bitch, Best Junior, HIT for Obedience, Agility, Rally and Herding.
I have three volumes, starting with the 1984 Specialty that was held in St Louis. This was the first licensed AKC Specialty. The previous Historians kept very good records and I compiled all the information into the three volumes. I hope to bring these with me to next year’s Specialty.
