MOTION 1 From Joyce Rowland

Move that the Wise's retain their membership number, 1159F, upon their reinstatement.

Discussion
Lee and Sandra Wise are long standing ACDCA members. Due to unfortunate personal circumstances their 2005-2006 renewal was not submitted by the due date. They immediately applied for reinstatement but the first reinstatement application was not received. They have applied once again. I want to make sure they keep their membership number of 1159F.

I know that there is a practice of not reinstating numbers where a membership has been lapsed for a number of years. The research required to determine what number a former member had years ago was burdensome for the club secretary. It was also controversial if no club records existed to support a former member's contention of what their previous number was. Here there is only a short lapse, the Wise's have been attempting to reinstate for several months and there were extenuating circumstances that caused them to miss the deadline to begin with. In addition there is no question about their actual member number.

There is no section of the Bylaws or item in the Standing Rules that I can find that would prevent the Board from making this small exception to practice.

MOTION 2 From Joyce Rowland

The motion is change our past practice and allow anyone who lapses then reinstates to be reassigned their former number as long as that former member provides acceptable proof of the number and, therefore, no research is required by the ACDCA, Inc. Acceptable proof would be official club correspondence or membership list that reference the number.

With acceptable proof this would be retroactive for anyone who was denied such reinstatement in the past.

Discussion

I think there are many positive aspects of recognizing who are the long term members of the club (and not just the charter members) and giving this recognition through membership numbers--until we have a better way of doing so. Whether we think they should or not many people take pride in having their long term affiliation recognized through the number.

Larry Painter as our representative for the HAC committee AKC is in the process of putting together. As an alternate I would like to nominate Stacey Helsel.

Larry Painter has been a member of the national club for many years, he is avidly involved in all aspects of herding. He is a licensed judge, a well respected trainer, and a respected competitor. I believe he will be a strong assets for the ACDCA and all breeds as a member of the new HAC.

Stacey Helsel is an active competitor in all herding venues, she has put HCs on a few dogs, and she has chaired the herding trial for our National specialty. Stacey is organized and well spoken I believe she will be a good alternate for the HAC.

Both Stacey and Larry are willing to work together on this committee, neither one has an "agenda" that may cause friction with the AKC. They are both passionate about herding, but level headed and understanding of the political process.

I hope the BOD will approve the herding committee slate of Larry Painter and Stacey Helsel for HAC committee positions.

Thank you,
